Today the nation woke up to a very sad news, after prisoners escaped while they were being transported. One of Sabc news reporter said, this happened when a double cap block a way for the South African police cars, and five armed men forced police officers who were on duty to open the back of the police truck. Five heavenly armed men in a double cap bakkie block two police cars transporting prisoners from the new prison to the Pietermaritzburg magistrate court. The suspects pointed the two officers who were transporting these prisoners and forced them to open the rear of the truck. In the crime scene 31 prisoners managed to escape out of the 45 who were in that truck.


Six of the escaped prisoners handed themselves to the magistrate court, to the officials. Sabc news reported that at least only 20 of the 31 escaped prisoners are still on the run. But this is still a developing story more news and update to follow as the investigation is still on going.
